Oh frankie

A few weeks ago I came across the glroriousness that is frankie. I was awestruck at the beauty of this magazine that I knew I just had to have my own copy. I quickly tried to find a subscription, as it is an overseas mag (lucky ladies!), but it was tad bit (a whole lot!) expensive... SO I decided I would just buy one (for now). Needless to say, it came, it is wonderful and quite possibly the most inspiring magazine I've ever held in my hands. Buy it. Love it. And in case you need more convincing, here's a litle peek.

And they sent the prettiest little note along with it. OH and they have the prettiest desktops available on their website. I should be a spokesperson for them, ha! I just really am quite happy with it!

Also, I went shopping with the Mr the other day on our date night and I found pretty pretty things. I'm loving patterns and all things blush (what's new). My friends get upset with me because of the amount of clothing I own in pink hues. I don't know when it happened... but it did.

WEAR :: the basics

Today was such a fun and productive day! I woke up and watched a few new episodes of some of my favorite shows while I packaged up some goodies to send off to new homes. Then I met some friends for lunch, ran a few errands and got back home to start working through some emails. I love productivity!

details: top - h&m, cardigan - target, shoes - c/o Blowfish Shoes, jeans - hco,
bracelet - forever 21, necklace - american eagle, bag - Jason Wu for Target

I am just smitten with this outfit. It was simple and basic, which I love, and these shoes are perfection; comfy and cute! I was so ecstatic when I found the Jason Wu section at Target! After visiting three Targets, I found one that had literally been untouched; there was much rejoicing. I picked up a few items that I think will live in my closet for quite some time; especially this sweet kitty bag!

How is your week so far?? My weekend was so fun! I did something I've never done before; I can't wait to share photos with you soon! Tonight I'll be working on my resume and probably eating ice cream - I've been obsessed with Dr. Pepper floats as of late. What month is it again?? Summer come quick!

Life according to my iphone

I really love social media sites, but I must admit that Instagram is by far my most favorite. I love love photos, whether I'm the one taking and sharing or I'm looking through others' photos, I just love it! If you'd like to follow me, my name is "pienthesky" and I also added an instagram button on my sidebar that will take you to my copygram page!

Mostly I just love catching little glimpses of peoples' daily lives. Makes me feel like I'm still close to friends and family that live far away^_^  Someday soon I'm going to get mine turned into a book!
Are you on Instagram?? What's your username? I love finding new friends to follow!

triangle love DIY

This isn't terribly difficult and it was actually inspired by Elsie's DIY here, but I thought I would modify it to add some fancy to my notebook. Which, btw, I love! I don't normally like lined notebooks, but this one has three dividers and it's way simple, which makes it easy and fun to decorate! I picked this one up at target!

Y O U  N E E D :: Notebook or surface you want to cover, glue stick, mod podge, magazine/photo clippings

E A S Y  A S  1 2 3 :: cut all of your photos/clippings into triangles. I just grabbed two of my favorite magazines and cut out pretty ads; it worked great! glue each triangle down. I used a glue stick, but you could also use mod podge for this portion as well. once all triangles have been glued down, put a thin layer of Mod Podge to ensure that none of the ends start to peel up. let dry for about 20 minutes and voila! New Notebook!

Hope you have fun filling your new notebook with pretty thoughts! I am beyond thrilled with how it came out. If you do your own version, leave a link in the comments. I'm doing a canvas next! Have a sweet weekend!

Meet the Team!

For the last year I have played with the idea of expanding Pie N' the Sky to an actual team of individuals that would contribute to the blog. I loved the idea of allowing other voices to be heard and turning Pie N' the Sky into a resource for young women everywhere. So, I am very excited to introduce to you the Pie N' the Sky team. These lovely ladies are brilliant, talented and ever so inspiring. They have their own jobs, blogs and voice so I was thrilled when they said they wanted to take part! I hope you will enjoy reading their thoughts on the following topics; I know I can't wait to share their posts!

 website // facebook // twitter

You'll be hearing from each of our contributors at least twice each month. I know you will just love each of them! If you have any topics and/or questions you would like for them to address, leave a comment below!

Girl Talk // The Colourista

Elycia is the lovely blogger of Love, Elycia. I've known her for over a year and she has been such an inspiration for me. She's so sweet, funny and completely real. I love that she's not afraid to be silly and I know that you'll just love her!

What is your job title?
I am a full-time blogger, dreamer and cat hugger.

What do you love about yourself?
I love that I don't take myself too seriously. I like that I have a good sense of humour and can have a really good laugh at my own expense. I also love that I am kind of all over the place and that I get excited pretty easily. Basically I'm nuts and I love it.

Who is your role model?
Anyone with good follow through. I really look up to people who are pros at consistently making their good ideas a reality.

What inspires you?
Sunshine, oldies, the smell of laundry (fresh, not stinky, waiting to be washed laundry), fun colour combinations and lovely vintage toys & magazines inspire me like crazy! I would probably say that sunny days inspire me the most though. I'm about 100 times more productive on sunny days than I am on cloudy ones.

What are 5 words that describe you?
Silly, oblivious, colourful, honest, curious

What is your biggest insecurity?
My likability. I really like to be liked and I worry about people thinking I'm too weird/not funny/annoying when I meet them. Also, along the same lines, I am pretty terrified of accidentally offending people.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be?
This might sound weird but I would love to be one of my kitties for the day. They are so hilarious and I want to know what goes through their little minds. Also, snoozing on the couch in the sun all day doesn't sound too bad at all. Ok, ok, if I had to choose a person I would pick Katie from Color me Katie. Her life looks so fun and colourful!

Thanks so much for chatting with us Elycia! If y'all would like to get to know Elycia more, visit her twitter or blog. Oh, and she sells cute goodies here!

a word of encouragement

It's kind of liberating not having to be in control; the weight of of how things will turn out, is no longer on your shoulders. The best part is knowing that the control is in someone's hands that are far more capable than your own. I don't know about you but I can be a bit of a perfectionist, in that I think I know best and I rarely seek help from others; I didn't say it was a good thing. I'm working on this flaw. Especially in such a stressful time in my life right now, having just graduated and taking the next steps in my new life; it's a bit unnerving.
In the last few months I've experienced moments of confusion, uncertainty and unrest, terrible feelings that I do everything within me to avoid; that's why I'm such a perfectionist. I believe that's why I seem to find myself in these situations all too often, and they always end the same way: I stress, I give up on myself, put my trust in God and He pulls through. Yep, He's never let me down, not even once. I don't ever set out to purposefully make a plan without Him, but I do it on a daily basis. All of this is to say, that if you find yourself in an uncertain situation, trust Him and let the calm take away all your worries and fears. When God is in control, there is only victory in the end. That's a promise.
