Music Monday

This week's song is one of my very favorites, introduced to me by my dear friend Jamila. She has wonderful taste in music. It was also used in the movie Amelie; which I have not seen, but hear is good...

Why I love this song // If you listened to it, then I think it's pretty obvious, right?? It's beautiful!! I love the progression, I love how smooth the entire piece is, I love that it tells a story and you can feel the passion that the pianist feels as he plays... It's just remarkable and it makes my heart so very happy. The first time I heard it, I listened to it about twenty times. Hope you enjoy it too!

Second Birthday

Today the Mr and I celebrated a little thing we like to call, second birthday!! Since he was away on my birthday, we had to postpone the celebration til today. It was just perfect^_^

The day began with breakfast at Mimi's Cafe; I had never been. Do they have one near you?? If so you need to go, like right now! Their muffins are reason enough to drop what you're doing and get yourself over there! Delicious. Then I was taken to Anthro for a shopping spree! Yep! I got some pretty pretty things!! Theeeen we went on over to a cool coffee house and I drank an iced chai and opened up my next present.... mint headphones!! eeep! I have been wanting these for at least a year. They are just as perfect as I had hoped. We watched movies, ordered gourmet pizza and had the best day ever. I feel like such a lucky gal. I'm sad my birthday festivities are over, but I'm so excited for 23. I think this'll be a good year. Are you 23? Have you been 23? Was it good for you??

PS: I am going to be away at camp this coming week. I think I may have mentioned this... But no worries, I have some sweet posts lined up for you from some of my lovely sponsors!! I know you'll enjoy them. OH and we'll still have our regular weekly features! So long friends!

What I Wore

Dress: Gilly Hicks
Scarf / Boots: Ahab Bowen
Bracelet: Buckle

Do you see those crazy cute peach boots I'm wearing?? Those are my oh so perfect birthday boots that I gifted myself on my birthday shopping day! They fit like a dream and they're a size six!! My feet are not a size six; they're not giant wierd feet, but they are certainly not a size six. They were clearly meant for me. Actually, I think I willed them to fit me. As I was putting my foot in them I said "please fit me, please fit me, pleeeease fit meeee!" And voila, they did!! It works, you should try it next time you want something to fit you. If it doesn't work, then maybe you have to wait for your birthday to roll around, it might only work then.

On another note, I'm feeling very chatty tonight. Clearly. I got to see my sweet friend Lauren and we went to dinner and then caught up on our lives. We went to high school together and I love that we're still friends^_^ I have stayed up way too late this whole week and it's really thrown me off my schedule. Do you care to know this? Probably not, but here it goes anyway.

I find myself getting into bed at around this time each night only to lay in bed for hours thinking. Thinking about what you may ask, well let me tell you. I'm thinking about school, my internship, what recipes I should learn, the piano, new features for the blog, puppies, mason jars, tv shows, Jennifer Aniston's hair (how is it so shiny??) my new face moisturizer, kittens, waterfalls, and that's to name a few of literally hundreds of thee most randomest thoughts! Also, I know randomest is not a real word, but it felt appropriate. I say this all to say, that I am sleepy, but I know if I try to sleep I will fall into this same trap SO tonight I have a plan. I will stay awake doing something of actual purpose until I'm so sleepy that I can't bare to be awake anymore and bam, that's when it'll happen... I will be thought free and have pleasant sleep.

On a completely other note, I really really like this outfit and I wore it on a day when I ran errands and felt it did not get the appropriate wear that it needed. So you may very well see this outfit pop up again. Don't judge me when you see it again either. I'm not one of those people that only wears an outfit once, I'm a real human being.

So there you go. To wrap up: My feet have shrunk, I got to see my friend, I like to make up words, and I'm a human being. Goodnight.

Girl Talk: The Eternal Optimist

Adrienne Holguin is the voice behind Oh Happy Day. She is my sister, and the best one at that. She is constantly encouraging, smiling and a light in my life. I know that you will find her happiness contagious.

What is your job title?
I'm a store manager for ANF. I've been with the company for almost three years, and I LOVE my job. I get to work with great people that make me feel young. Management was a job I never saw myself doing, but it turns out I'm pretty darn good at it.

What do you love about yourself?
I love my optomism. I feel like a little positive thinking can go a long way. When I first moved to Austin I had hardest first three months ever. I had been dumped by my long term mr, had an allergic reaction from something in Austin and got body hives, got in a car accident, found black mold in my bathroom...to make a long story short, I stayed positive through it all, and I stayed in Austin. I became the strong woman I am today and have fallen deeply in love with this city.

Who is your role model?
I would say my mother is my role model. She's such a strong woman who I've always looked up to. She has this unconditional love for everyone that makes her shine inside and out. She's able to carry on conversations with strangers everywhere she goes, and people always seem so wiling and wanting to open up to her. My mom and I can definitely butt heads, but I know she will always be there for me.

What inspires you?
Every time I step outside, no matter what the weather or where I am, I get this overwhelming peace. I would say it's God's creations that inspires me on a daily basis. Nature not only brings a smile on my face, but makes my creativity wheels turn.

What are five words that describe you?
Cheerful, Healthy Hippy, Responsible, Religious

What is your biggest insecurity?
I sometimes get insecure about my body. It's tough being in fashion and working for a company that is very conscience of image. You definitely take note of the beautiful/attractive people that work along side of you. Most of the girls I work with are size 0 or 1. I find myself hiding the fact that I'm a 5 or sometimes 7 in front of them. Luckily, I'm not always insecure about it. Most of the time I feel beautiful inside and out. I know that beauty really does come in all shapes and sizes, and those days I love looking in the mirror and seeing the strong beautiful person I am.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be?
I know most people answering this question would think of the most elaborate and far fetched person to be for a day. I thought about saying Zoe for her adorable factor, Gaga for her fame, Angelina for her husband, or Natalie (Portman) for her beauty. But if I could be anyone for a day, I would be 7-year-old me--with the knowledge and understanding I know now. I was living the life in those days. No responsibilities, learning new things every day, family and friends all around me, and living in beautiful Brazil. I would give anything to go back to the days when my biggest worries were if I'd get to hang out with my friends and getting to the next boss on super mario with my brother. That's my idea of the good life.

Oh Mr.

This will be my final birthday related post, promise! I just had to share this sweet thing the Mr did. Throughout the day he shared 23 things about me. It was so kind and thoughtful and made the whole day feel like one big surprise. I loved checking my phone all day to see what he wrote!

I felt like the luckiest girl in the world; not only because he had such sweet things to say, but because he took the time out of his veryyyy busy day to think these up, post them and make my day so much brighter! It meant so very much to me and I can't wait to make his birthday extra special ^_^
