Snow cones and puppies

This Father's Day, the Mr and I were without our Dads, so we thought what better way to celebrate than to go eat snow cones and visit puppies?? So we did just that. It was kind of a perfect day. We went to church, ate lunch with friends, hit up a craft store, ate snow cones, held puppies, looked at some furniture stores, made dinner with friends, then ended the night with a game of settlers. Perfect, I tell you! 

My snow cone was Honeydew Melon with cream. yum. Elisha had Bahama Mama. I love trying new flavors each time. What's your favorite flavor??

HOUSTON // WRAP UP

After hours of uploading and editing, I'm finally ready to share some photos of our mini vacation to Houston!! We did so many random things and more often than not, I left my real camera at home. SO there's lots of fun instagram photos....

We spent so many of our days hanging outside with the cats. It was fun to chit chat and listen to some tunes. My Dad has the best taste in music. And their garden is overflowing with pretty^_^

 I'm not sure why we're sad, but I have lots of photos with these faces, bahaha! Weirds. I was excited to get out of my daily routine and brainstormed lots of new things to blog about and put in the shop!

I made his and her snacks one day while the Mr worked on graphics and I blogged. I love us. Working together is so much fun.

My Dad and Mr took me to Joann's! They were so sweet holding all of my fabrics while I paroused. We got to eat shawarmas that same day. mmmm.

I love love custard and I'm so happy we got to try out a new place; it was delicious!! I had oh so much fun and wish we could've stayed longer. Donna made us home-cooked meals, we got to rest, play with cats, take photos, do a little shopping and enjoyed being away from the stresses of everyday; perfection.

It's no secret that I love shoes, but I really love love Jeffrey Campbell shoes! These are just amazing. They're so tall and I'm already so tall that I fear me in one of those would just be a disaster, but maybe one day?

I'm back home from a lovely vaca in Houston. It was so good to see my family and spend time with my Mr. I'll hopefully be able to upload some of our photos this weekend. yay. Tomorrow I'm going to a flea market with Kalli & Kelsey, then later to a show with the Mr. at a local coffee house; Branden is playing for a benefit. See, now you know who all of those people are. hooray! I am sleepy now, so I'm going to fall asleep to some hulu. night.

Introductions...

So I realized the other day that there are quite a few people in my life that I reference quite frequently, and instead of saying, "I hung out with my friend..." I could just say, "Oh yeah I hungout with Kalli" cause here in a minute you'll know exactly who that is! So I put together this little introduction so you can meet some of the more important people in my life^_^

Elisha is my boyfriend and more often then not, I will refer to him as the Mr. Not sure why, but I started calling him that on here and now it just seems strange to refer to him as anything else. We've been dating for 6 whole years and he really is my best friend. I'm so lucky I get to go through life with him. You can read more about our story here.

Kalli is one of my newest and best of friends. We met just short of a year ago and I already feel like we've known each other for years! You know those friends that just click? Well, we just click. I feel lucky that God put her in my life. She's a very talented photographer and is in fact the one who took my banner photo^_^

Adrienne is my sister. I call her Mandarin because... well, not much else rhymes with Adrienne; it was a stretch, but it works! She is more than just a sister, she's my best friend. I often go on mini roadtrips to visit her in Austin and we take photos, play with cats and watch wedding shows^_^

These two are also a couple that I've only known for a short while, but also consider some of my very best friends. We do ministry together, we eat together, we even watch movies together (most recently, braveheart). I love that they're both creative and share the same love for music and vintage as the Mr and I do!

These lovely people are the Barth's. We go to church together and I am currently living in their home; I could not be happier to have found such a loving family!! Whitney has quickly become one of my best friends and I don't know how I would survive this Summer without her. I feel so very blessed to have them in my life. Mckinley, the little lady, looks oh so cute in Pie N' the Sky headbands! My next project is to teach her how to knit!! ^_^

My Dad and my Stepmom Donna, have made several appearances on le blog. They live in Houston and I have to admit... I have thee best Dad in the world. There, I said it. I love going to visit them and I love that they support me in all that I do!

My Mom and my Stepdad Max, live in New Mexico, where I'm originally from. My Mom is the kindest, most thoughtful person I know. I'm so lucky to have such a huge supporter in both of them! OH and she just recently got a sewing machine, so we're going to be sewing buddies^_^

My brother Michael lives in New Mexico as well. He's always been one of my biggest inspirations, which he may not know. He's always had a love and passion for music and has continuously pursued his dreams; I love that most about him. I look up to him a lot and consider myself one lucky sister^_^

Girl Talk: The Designer

I had the privilege of meeting Lindsay via the blog world, this past year. Instantly I knew we would be friends! She is high-spirited, oh so sweet and extremely talented. I know you'll be inspired by her.


What is your job title?

graphic designer, full time blogger, window display coordinator and online shop owner…in no particular order!  not even 3 months ago i was a full time employee at an insurance office while trying to achieve my dreams of being self employed.  i learned that with hard work, dedication and a lot of love you can achieve anything you want. 

What do you love about yourself?

i love that i am a dreamer. i let my imagination run wild and fill up with tons of  ideas.  i find that because of this i am a more creative person.  i have never been the type to take no for an answer, because if i dream it, i will do everything in my power to make it come true!

Who is your role model?

although it is not an individual person, I find that my biggest role model is the creative design team behind free people.  on a daily basis i look to them for inspiration on so many different levels.  whether it be for graphic design, window display ideas, or the creation of the next necklace that will be sold in my shop.  every day i am completely mesmerized by what they do and because of this, their team is my biggest role model.

What inspires you?

color!  everything that i create is inspired by color on so many different levels.  with the opening of the scenic glory shop i looked to pictures from India for inspiration.  the colors you see there are so vibrant and breath taking.  i was inspired so much that i am planning to take a trip in the next year or so to see it all in person.

What are five words that describe you?

Happy, dreamer. outgoing. vegetarian. passionate.

What is your biggest insecurity?

that i will never achieve the goals i have set for myself.  every day i focus so much positive energy on what i’m doing, where I want to be, what i am going to create…but sometimes in the back of my head i get tied up in thinking…”what if I can’t.” 

it bothers me to have these thoughts, but that is life.  i just use it as motivation to get better and try harder.  that’s all I can do.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?

at the moment I would say, lady gaga.  although to some she is a bit over the top, i personally think she is a creative genius.  I would like to spend a day in her gigantic platform shoes, see her vision for her songs, dances, wardrobe, concert displays, etc.  I think it would be a wild, eye opening and creative ride!
