WEAR ::creme de le creme

details // dress: urban outfitters, tights & belt: h&m, boots: nurture, socks: target,
cardigan: anthropologie, necklace: gifted, ring: Adrienne's

Ever wondered what I look like after a long day?? Well here you are friends, ha! These are a product of a long, wonderful, extremely rewarding day and Adrienne being in town with a brand new spiffy camera! We got home kinda late and decided to have fun with her new toy ^_^

I had a pretty special mid week: Adrienne came to visit me, we had our very first Spark service, and I found the most delicious cupcake shoppe. It's the little things, really.

In other news, I still refuse to complete my Hunger Games reading. I'm doing some serious job hunting this weekend. Seeing my sister made me miss my family like whoa. I love my church. I am working on some intensely crazy awesomeness that I will soon share with you. Things are falling into place. I discovered Frankie Magazine and I really want a subscription, but alas I am not made of money. Oh and I really want a new camera and it's taking everything inside of me to not trade mine in. I think that's all. Night friends!

Girl Talk // The Daydreamer

What is your job title?

jewelry and home accessory designer & blogger.

What do you love about yourself?
I love that I am who I am.  In that I mean, although I am constantly growing and changing physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, I allow myself to grow and change into just me.  Just the girl I am supposed to be and become, not for my friends or family, or blog readers, just for me.  I think knowing ones own heart and mind is a wonderful attribute... (one reason I find my best friend so beautiful.  she is so different from me, but so just herself, and its stunning!).

Who is your role model?
My role model is hands down my mom.  She passed away four years ago from cancer and still everyday holds the crown for who I strive for in this world.  She was the kind of woman who made everyone she ever met feel like they were her good friend; feel loved.  She not only loved all people, but she loved the earth and had such an appreciation for its beauty.  She was the such a forgiver and acceptor of humanity and all its faults.  She was hilarious and childlike at times, but so graceful at others.  She showed me the meaning of hard work to live the life you dream of, perseverance in marriage through the bad times, love for your children even when at times it can be so hard, the spirit of animals and sticks and rocks, and the way to put others first.  I could literally go on for hours with what this woman means to me!!!

What inspires you?
I would say the biggest thing that inspires me is nature: feathers, stones, light, shells, textures, colors, smells, all things of nature.  Im also very inspired by colors and patterns, especially culturally inspired ones.  And when Im inspired, its always paired with some good tunes like Micah P Hinson, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Rocky Votolato - just to name a few.

What are five words that describe you?
passionate.  daydreamer.  nurturer.  nostalgic.  homebody.

What is your biggest insecurity?
Fear.  Since losing both of my parents before having children, I have big fears of having children, although I want them very much.  So I guess my insecurity would really be doubt?  The ability to successfully raise my children without having my wonderful parents by my side.  That is my current biggest personal stumbling block.

If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be?
My dad.  As hard as it might be to face, I'd like to know how he was feeling and what was in his heart.  Maybe if I could've stepped inside him on the right day, he would not have taken his own life.  (sorry I know that is really sad, but its my most honest answer).  I'll give you two answers to this one to balance this out a bit... I'd also love to be Joy Williams of The Civil Wars... to know what it feels like to sing so beautifully, and you know, to hang out with John Paul White all day would not be too bad at all ;)

I reeeeally really enjoyed reading this week's Girl Talk and have been anxiously awaiting the day I get to share it with you all. I absolutely adore Laura's honesty and openness; something I strive to be more like. Thank you so much Laura! If you all would like to continue getting to know Laura, and I 'm sure you do, feel free to visit these...

the art of planning

I love order. I love to have a plan and yes, I still write things down on paper and not just on my iphone, much to the dismay of my mr.

I really wish I could be a spur of the moment type of gal, but I'm far too much of a perfectionist/analyst to be her. I'm learning to accept that this is who I am. In fact, I have full on embraced it! SO I thought, "surely there must be other girls out there like me!" right? if you do exist, then this post is for you. or better yet, if you are the complete opposite and hope to someday be the girl with the plan, this too can be a good read for you! If you're neither, then feel free to parouse past posts. Moving on.

I enjoy making lists, especially when they have to do with all things creative, such as the blog, shop or design. I am constantly dreaming up new ideas and find that if I don't write them down they will disappear into a far off land never to return again, so I haaave to write them down! While I was at my favorite antique shop, I came across this cute little planner/notebook/binder that I knew I had to have. Why? Because it was a dollar, it was lilac, and it was only a dollar. Did I mention it was a dollar? I love a deal. So I bought it and knew it had potential of becoming my dream keeper; like a trapper keeper, but fancier. obviously.

Today I had enough time to gather all of my scrapbook-y things (yes, that's a word) and do a little makeover on the little dream keeper. It looks a little something like this now...

I made four dividers out of craft paper and added little tabs so I could section them off. My tabs include Posts, DIY, Shop, & Design. These are four areas that I am constantly coming up with ideas for, but you could obviously choose whichever best suit you.  I used washi tape to liven up the tabs a bit before I wrote on them. Behind each divider, I added blank white sheets of paper that I cut and hole punched myself. easy enough. I used a few of the sheets of papers that were already in it when I bought it as well; cause they seemed useful. The planner also came with tons of business card holders. Like at least 50 more sheets of them than I'm actually using. I thought they would work to hold some pretty extra things for inspiration. In the back I thought it would be nice to have some loose leaf paper; in case I need to write something that doesn't necessarily pertain to any of the four sections. So I took an envelope, hole punched it and put the extra sheets in. I decided to put a little sticker to hold the flap down securely, but I'm sure it would've been fine without it. I threw in a mini notebook, for extra note-taking situations and a little bookmark to help keep my place. It makes it real easy to dream up pretty things when I have a pretty thing to write it all down in^_^ Hope you have fun creating your own dream keeper!!
