B I T S + P I E C E S

I love the stillness of morning. It's so rare that I get to wake with nothing on the schedule, with nowhere to be or nothing urgent to accomplish. It's on those days I like to draw open the curtains and just sit in the stillness, soaking in the sunshine. God is so good and these days are reminders of that.

I had a perfect Labor Day weekend. The mr and I went to Austin, where he completed his first triathlon! I'm so proud of him and I'll be sharing more on that later this week. I received a sweet package from my dear friend Brittany. She and I grew up in the same city, but never actually met. Over the last year or so we've gotten to know each other via the internet and I feel so blessed for our friendship. Finding people you truly connect with is so rare and wonderful.

I'm hoping your week is off to a great start. My life is taking on a new adventure today, and I'm nervous, but excited. I also have quite a bit of wedding stuff to take care of and trying and pick out a few more home items before next month when I make the move.

Life is good. Your life is good. Remember that.

Today was busy, productive, chaotic, and relaxing. I was able to take the day off and finish unpacking into my new space - I really dislike having clutter, so this was very much needed. Once everything was in it's place, I started packing up for the Renegade Craft Fair, which is THIS weekend! I can't believe it's already here. I spent the majority of my day tying up loose ends and making sure everything was in it's place, ready to go. Once I loaded up the car, I ran a few errands and came home to relax. Most days after work and the days tasks, I rarely have time to just sit and relax, so it was nice to just be. I lit a few candles and watched a few shows; it was just what I needed to recharge.

Tomorrow we're headed to Austin, not only for Renegade, but Elisha will be running in the Spartan Race again! It's a big (and very busy) weekend for both of us - so a refresher day was perfect!

Today was exhausting, beautiful and productive. I woke up early to judge at Fine Arts - was completely moved to tears by a junior high girl who was so nervous to sing that she started to cry - I encouraged her to just do it for fun and we wouldn't judge (just so she could get the experience) - she agreed to do it if her Dad could stand up next to her. He cried the whole time because he was so proud of her. It was great!

I finished up the majority of my packing today as well. I was counting up the number of times I have had to pack up and move my stuff and it totaled to a whopping 12 times! That's just since I graduated high school - so the last 7 years. I detest packing, but I must admit I've gotten pretty good at it. I can't wait for the day when I can have a home and just stay in one place.

Once the packing got wrapped up, I was able to finish a few more pieces for the Renegade Craft Fair which is NEXT weekend!! What?! That snuck up fast. Again, if you're in the Austin area, come say hi!

I hope your day was just as fun and productive, or I hope it was super relaxing and unproductive, cause that's always great too!

Happy Weekend! Melisa

I've been busy busy busy today. I mentioned before, how I'll be at the Renegade Craft Fair in May and I've been using every free moment working on new pretty things! I'm loving it.

busy is better than bored.

Today I decided to try my hand at watercolors. I've never really been a painter; I've worked with acrylics, but just for fun. SO I thought I'd give watercolor a try and I'm already in love. I have no real idea what I'm doing, but it's fun just playing around and discovering new things.

I've always made it a point to have a craft in my life that's just for me, that I don't do for the shop, but just something that feeds my soul and helps me grow creatively - I've been slacking on this as of late. I think this may be a new, just for fun, hobby!

I could use any and all pointers you may have! Links or just tips, are welcome - just leave them in the comments. Thanks friends!
