D E T A I L S :: jeans/free people, poncho/francesca's, thermal/target, boots/lucky brand

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of snow; primarily because I hate being cold. However, this time around, I don't know what it is, but I'm love love loving it! It may have something to do with added time off to spend at home cuddling with husband and Gretchen... but who knows! I ventured out to take a few photos until I couldn't feel my fingers anymore! I bought this poncho like 3 years ago and it's still one of my favorite pieces in my closet! It's literally like I'm wearing a blanket and who can complain about that??

I have been working on some new pieces for the shop, that I have yet to share here, but if you follow me on instagram, you've had plenty of peeks! I'll be sure to share a few photos and a more in depth look, soon!

Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend - relax, hug a friend, remember how blessed you are!

W E A R :: snowed in

D E T A I L S :: dress/macy's, tights/chicwish, sweater/kohls, boots/nordstrom, beanie/free people

This last week we got a ton of ice and snow, which resulted in early releases, days off and tons of cozy netflix marathons! We did venture out into the snow a few times, and I found myself extremely grateful for a husband that lived in Wisconsin for two years! He knew how to handle the roads, but it was sorry to see those that did not.

To catch you up: I've been going full speed with work and school. Our church is moving into our new building next month!! My sister and I are headed to CAMP Texas Style Council in 3 weeks! The PS shop is back - and I added a few new items! I'll be at Walk the Light in April, so there will be a ton more items being stocked in the shop soon! Gretchen is still as cute as ever. I'm training for a Spartan Race in May, with Elisha. Whew. Got all that?

How about you?? What's new!? I know I've been on hiatus, but I have some fun posts in the works and you can expect to see a lot more from me!

W E A R :: Violets

God will often gives me short phrases throughout my day,when I am praying or giving in to worry or stress. These words help me to refocus and gain perspective. I usually write them on sticky notes and place them on my computer or desk as a reminder. I'm actually pulling them out fo my drawer now to write them down because I thought I'd share a few of them with each of you; in case you find yourself in a place in need of encouragement of inspiration.

Create a meaningful presence - I don't want to be easily forgotten. I want to be missed.

When I feel like there's nothing I can do, it means that He can now do everything - this one was from today.

Don't Compare. Don't Compete. Don't Complain.

"What if I say something wrong?" "What if you say nothing at all?" - this was actually a conversation I had with God; wrestling with whether or not I should reach out to a friend to let her know what I felt like God wanted her to know. Sometimes saying nothing is much worse than saying something "the wrong way".
Change is inevitable. Embrace the change. - definitely living in this season!

Unrelenting focus on God.

What in your life truly makes you feel "good enough". - great question to ask yourself to help you evaluate where your head is at and what you place your priorities in.

Where you are willing to lead, I am willing to follow.

True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less. - this one got me good!

When you rush, you forget who you are and whose you are. - I struggle with "being still" anyone else?

Hope these give some of you a boost of encouragement! Do any of you post notes throughout the day? If so, I would love to hear some of your thoughts or phrases that help you get through each day; share in the comments below!

W E A R :: walk the halls

D E T A I L S :: denim & duster / urban outfitters, thermal & belt / target, boots / nordstrom, hat / free people

Has this week been as slow for everyone else as it has been for me? Like, painfully slow, guys! I've been stressed and getting migraines and lets just say, TGIF! I really want to go on a girl's weekend getaway soon, with a few of my friends. We're in the Texas area, so a fun little roadtrip would be perfect. If any of you have suggestions, share them in the comments!

These photos were taken pre-bangs. I kind of miss my forehead (is that a weird thing to say?). The bangs just make my face look so different. I also can't get them to stop growing so fast! I feel like I'm constantly trimming them or they're in my eyeballs. Any of you out there with bangs have this issue?

Do any of you all have fun plans for the weekend?

Best of 2014

This year was unlike any other year. There were new challenges, new friends, new posts and a whole lot of changes. I've always loved blogging and the ability I have to have something tangible to look at, as I look back on my year. Pie N' the Sky was in a bit of a season of change, but that doesn't mean we didn't share some fun posts! Here are a few of my favorites!

I shared photos from our wedding!

 We made a cute ipad pouch.

 I shared this SAY post; which turned out to be one of my favorite posts.

We took out our paint brushes and made some new journals.

 We added some tassel necklaces to our jewelry collection!

 I shared a style post.

 We made some coasters from our instagram photos!

I preached for the first time!

 We personalized some mini leather notebooks.

 I shared a peek at my nightstand.

 We revamped the triangle love diy, with this new notebook diy.

We got Gretchen!!!

 Gretchen got a bath (and looked ridiculously cute).

I learned how to weave!

I made these fun copper wall hangings for the Deeply Rooted blog.

Elisha and I celebrated our one year anniversary, I got a new job, I started working on my Master's, our church bought a new building, our friends welcomed their babies into the world, my Dad retired and moved, my sister started a new business venture, my mom came to visit us, we bought a dog, Elisha completed several triathlons and all in all, it was a great year! I love where we are in life. It's not always easy, it's not always perfect, but it's ours and it's something we're building together. I hope you can look back at your year and feel blessed. Love you, friends! Here's to 2015!

W E A R :: all a blur

details :: sweater/anthropologie, denim/urbanoutfitters, scarf & thermal/target

Elisha and I had so much fun this Christmas visiting my Dad and Stepmom at their new home. Their land has the best views and I had so much fun exploring. I'll be sharing a few more posts with some peeks of their backyard soon.

While I was taking these photos, the settings got a bit mixed up and they didn't actually focus - womp. But as I was going through them, I decided I still liked them! Everything doesn't always have to be clear and in focus, sometimes a little blur creates some wonder.

Do you have any fun New Year's plans??
