B I T S + P I E C E S

This is the longest I've ever been gone from the blog and I must admit it's been really weird. I've tried to find a balance, but if I'm honest, I'm still trying to figure it out. Full time job, grad school, marriage and ministry... doesn't leave too much time for downtime. This last month has been busy, but fun! Here's a few peeks at what you missed and now we get to play catch up! I already have a few posts lined up. It's good to be back. Thanks for sticking with me!

S A L E :: mexican blankets

Alright friends! I have a few Mexican Blankets back in stock and they need new homes!

These beautiful, thick Mexican falsa blankets are the perfect accent to any home. They're perfect for days at the beach, picnics in the park, or keeping cozy on the couch!

Each blanket measures approx. 4ft x 7ft. Machine Washable. Weights 2.3 to 2.6 lbs. Durable and gets softer with each wash. Each blanket includes a list of care instructions. Patterns and stitching may vary, because blankets are hand made.

I'll be selling each blanket via instagram and there's only one blanket in each color. Each blanket is $30 and that includes shipping. Here's how it works - checkout my instagram (@pienthesky) this weekend  - I'll be posting each blanket individually - if you want it, leave your paypal email in the comments section of the photo. It'll go to the first person to comment with their email. Easy enough!

W E A R :: white balance

 details :: dress / urban outfitters, sandals / target

Simple is always my favorite. It started to warm up, so I did some Spring cleaning this weekend and took out all of my sundresses! I'm loving the warmer weather and longer walks with Gretch.

In case you haven't noticed, it's been a bit quiet over here lately. I actually started Grad School yesterday! It was an exciting decision and I can't wait to start working on assignments. I know the workload will be pretty tough to balance, but I'm certain this is the season God wants me in and it's definitely going to be worth it. I plan to get my degree in Early Childhood Education and I can't wait to be a Kindergarten Teacher! I hope to share a post soon on what led me to this new direction in life - it was a pretty exciting journey.

Sometimes you don't always end up where you thought you'd be, but the circumstances that lead you there are far too wonderful to deny, that this is exactly where God wants you.

T I P S + A D V I C E :: thirty ways to a better a day

Sure, we all have bad days but we do ourselves a disservice when we allow the bad days to get the best of us. Giving in to a bad day is simply a waste of precious hours you could be using to do something incredible. So, in order to battle the bad days, here's a list of thirty ways to have a better day.

Call up an old friend
Pet a dog
Read a magazine
Eat some chocolate
Go for a run
Light a candle
Say hi to a stranger
Twirl in your dress
Write something down with a permanent marker
Open up your bible
Disconnect
Think of your best day
Turn on your favorite song
Go to Target. Walk around. Breathe.
Give someone a hug
Write down five things you're good at
Give someone a compliment
Watch this video
Drink some chai
Take a selfie
Paint your nails
Take a bath
Buy an unneeded beauty item
Talk
Go to a yoga class
High-five a friend
Dream of a perfect day
Learn a new joke
Roll your windows down and dance while driving
Smile

I know life can get hard. I understand that sometimes it's easier to call it a day and shut the door and wait for tomorrow. I know that life is worth the struggle though. So in the midst of the bad days and terrible moments, take a step back and try to make it better. If for no other reason than your sanity. You can do it! Here's to a better day!

M A K E :: fabric frames

I've made it a point this year to print out more photos. With everything being digital these days, I sometimes forget to make a hard copy, or even to display our photos in our home. I've been thinking up a few ways to display our photos and these fun frames are one them!

S U P P L I E S :: fabric, wooden frame, mod podge, scissors, pen

1) Choose your fabric and lay it out. place your frame face down and grab your pen. trace the shape of your frame onto your fabric; both the inside and along the outside.

 2) Using your scissors, cut out the shape of your frame on your fabric. try and stay as close to the line as possible, as the shape will need to be pretty precise.

3) Grab your Mod Podge and spread a thin layer across the top of your frame. it may dry quickly, so feel free to add a second layer. when you've evenly spread your Mod Podge, place your fabric on top of your frame and press firmly. you may notice a few wrinkles, but those can be "pushed out" by simply running your finger across the fabric from end to end. let dry for 15mins.

I love the way these came out and it cost me less than $5 to make all three! There are so many fabrics to choose from and different ways to customize. Have fun with it!
