bits + pieces

This weekend was so much fun visiting my sister in Austin. My parents and brother were able to come down too and it was just the best!

My parents just bought a house and we went to go visit. The view was spectacular and I absolutely cannot wait for them to move in! They will be slightly closer to me and it'll be so much fun visiting.  It's in the San Antonio area, so if you know of some good spots to hangout or visit, let me know! I'm sure they're going to love getting familiar with the location.

How was your weekend? Anything terribly exciting?

a day on the road

Last weekend the mr and I took a little road trip to see his mama and her pups! Her and her husband breed maltese and they are just the sweetest!! Luckily, we went to visit when they had a brand new litter that I got to hold (for only a little while)! It was perfection. Spending time with family is always fun & car rides with your best friend are the best.

I have the entire day off today, so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to not only get a lot done, but to reopen the shop! I have so much I need to update, but hopefully by tonight there should be some new lovelies in there! hooray!

My sister came this past weekend and we had so so much fun! I love girlie time ^_^ We met a giant turtle and played with prairie dogs, then shopped and ate delicious yummy food. Fun times indeed!

Our lovely Shabby Apple Giveaway winner is Hannah! Thanks to all who entered and to Shabby Apple for offering such a sweet prize!

I hope your week is off to a wonderful start! I'm so excited for this weekend, as Pie N' the Sky is headed to Austin to be a part of the the Annual Renegade Craft Fair! I can't wait! I have a whole lot to get done and I'm sure I'll be crafting up a storm, but it will all be worth it. Hope I get to meet some of you!!

Kind of like the weirdest feeling ever...

Welp, it happened. I'm a graduate! I have to admit it's the strangest feeling; like I'm happy, but sad, excited, but nervous, all of the feelings I think everyone experiences at this point in their lives. I'm anxious for nothing, but find myself extremely overwhelmed with the peace and promise that God has given me. AH! I can't believe it! haha! Sorry, it hits me every now and then ^_^

I was so happy to spend time with my family and friends. We were able to go out dinner at Pappadeaux where I of course had the crab. I love me some crab. I got wonderful gifts, including the prettiest wool cape from the Mr and a Kate Spade purse from my sister!

There weren't too many photos taken and due to lighting, most came out a little blurry. blarg.

Now that that's all over, I'll be putting a little extra time into Pie N' the Sky and more specifically, the shop! This week I'm hoping to have an update!! It's much needed and I have so many pretty new goodies to share! I know you'll love them and it's just in time for Christmas! Hooray! More details to come. Have a wonderful week!

The Christmas Tree

So I think it's finally okay to start listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies AND putting up the Christmas tree!! Even though I kinda started doing all of that about two weeks ago (shh) Yesterday, Adrienne and I went to target to get her very first Christmas tree and had so so much fun hanging up all of the ornaments. There's something so magical about a Christmas tree all lit up.

Growing up we always went to Ruidoso to cut down a real tree, which made it even more fun. I also really loved the fresh pine-y smell that it filled the livingroom with^_^ So how about you? Real or fake tree??

5 tips on Being More Optimistic

As some of you may know, I have a sister. She is by far one of the most upbeat and optimistic people I know. She has her own blog called Oh Happy Day, which is highly appropriate to her personality. Sometimes I struggle with being peppy and outgoing, as for the most part I tend to be a bit more introverted, so I thought I'd ask Adrienne to share a few tips on how to more optimistic^_^

1. Smile // Try being negative with a smile on. I bet you can't do it and look like you mean it. Every time I get frustrated, I smile. Though the "problem" might still be there, it's way easier to handle with a smile on.

2. Breathe //  Yup, it's as simple as that. Deep breathing. I'm sure you've heard it before, but not only does it help you relax, relieve headaches, and strengthen abdominal muscles, it also helps clear and focus the mind. All the ingredients for a good time.

3. Thanksgiving // It's not just a holiday in November. Take time to think about the things you are thankful for on a daily basis--everything from your loved ones, to eating tasty food, to waking up without an alarm. Life is truly good when you think about it.

4. Dwelling // Just don't do it! The longer you dwell on a problem, the harder it will be to get over it. Give yourself time to mope about it, but then move on. I try to use the 10 percent rule in this situation. For example, if I got yelled at by a customer for 10 minutes because she was having a bad day and wanted to take it out on someone, I would spend 1 minute frustrated about the situation, maybe tell a co-worker or two, but them move on with my day.

5. The Bright Side // Trust me, there is a bright side to every situation. And usually, the bright side out weighs the dark side.  Say you're stuck in traffic...at least you can listen to your favorite band while you wait. Say your car a/c breaks...at least you can roll with the windows down and feel a lovely breeze on your face. Say you stepped in dog poop barefoot...at least you have a hilarious story to share that will crack anyone up.

Love and light.

sister time with my sister

My sister came into town! She stayed for only two days, but it was so nice having her around^_^ She makes me happy. We were able to sneak away on my lunch break to my favorite little restaurant in downtown Waxahachie, called the Dove's Nest. It's only open from 11-2, so it's a rare joy when I'm able to eat there. They have thee best soup, which was just perfect for all these allergy symptoms I've been experiencing (womp womp). We also did a little vintage shopping and then I had to head back to work.

While I finished up my Night of Worship rehearsal Adrienne went to Target. She insisted on purchasing some Missoni; I warned her that there was nothing left, as I explained my attempt to purchase something the day of and eeeverything was gone. However, she managed to snag some really cute stuff that were hidden away in a go back pile. I too was able to find some gems. I got the prettiest heels and a pair of knee highs (be still my heart). And then we went home and watched Rio. We used to live there. Did you know that?? Well, now you do. That's all for now! Hope you have a wonderful weekend friends!

OH, before I forget, take a little gander to the right bar of the screen and see how many followers Pie N' the Sky has! That's right, only 15 from 500! I've decided that once we reach 500, we are going to have a really special giveaway!! Ah! I'm so excited and I can't wait to share it, but we must get to that lovely little number first. Here's hoping!
