Music Monday and something extra

Sorry I've been a little more m.i.a then usual. I have been finishing up the moving process, practicing piano SO much and work work working. Now that I finally have a moment to sit back and relax, I wanted to say hello because I missed you. It's true, so often when I'm doing things that are keeping me busy, I find myself dreaming up posts and wishing I was sharing them here. I really love this little blog, as well as each and every one of my lovely readers. With that being said, I want to share my song for this week. With so much stuff that needs to get done, at the end of the day I like to sit in my bed and play a sweet song that makes me pensive and hopeful.

Why I love this song // Well first of all I love love Ben Gibbard's voice; it's so unique and seems to always make me smile. This song kind of awakens something in me; makes me hopeful and daydreamy. I love the guitar in it too, epecially that break in the middle of the song. This is thee perfect driving song... ya know, when you roll down the windows and all you see are fields on either side of you and you have nothing but the open road ahead of you... perfection.

The other day it was Whitney's birthday. We celebrated by eating, of course. It was fun to be with friends and celebrate my new sweet friend's special day^_^

And today I got a couch! My roommate and I spent two hours last night on Craigslist trying to find something decent. Needless to say there were some interesting things for sale. We found one though and it wasn't being sold by a creep and we did not get napped when we went to pick it up (woo!) We took Cynthia's boyfriend as backup, ha! It fits perfectly in the living room and I will soon be able to give you all a tour^_^

Music Monday

Today I woke up with a terrible migraine. This is something that has plagued me for the last 12 years; I loathe them. So now that I'm feeling a little better, I wanted to hare a song that always lifts my spirit and puts me in a better mood. So here you go...

Why I love this song // I think this song is so sweet. I love how simple it is and how I can't help but sway back and forth every time I listen to it. You just have to move to it! I love the lyrics and overall message of it and of course I love Macy Gray. Her voice is wonderful. I hope you like this song as much as I do!

Congratulations Mila! Thanks all for entering to win; there will be another giveaway this week!

Music, Chai and Secrets

I know it's Tuesday, but it's time to share music people! This week I'd like to share a little number called Summer Girl, by Leighton Meester. Yes, I'm a fan. I know it's not her original song and it's from a terribly depressing movie, but it's just so dang catchy. My favorite is blaring it in my car with windows rolled down. Which leads me to my next point... I love Leighton not only for her catchy tune, but I do in fact love her because she plays Blair Waldorf in the ever so dramatic teenage soap opera, Gossip Girl. Yes, I watch that show; I avidly watch that show and I'm not ashamed. In fact, it comes back on September 26th and you better bet I'll be sitting in my living room with friends, watching it! I think I watch more "teen" shows than I do actual age appropriate television. Though I have not been a teen for four years, I think I'll always be one at heart. That's what they say anyways right? Like your body gets older, but you'll always feel young? Well there ya go, something you didn't know about me. So tell me, what's your guilty pleasure show?? Don't leave me hanging here, I know you watch something silly too!

Yesterday the Mister and I went to see Cowboys vs. Aliens; it was entertaining. Yep, that's my review, ha! I didn't hate it and I didn't love it, I was simply entertained for two hours, so go watch it and let me know if you agree. Now, since this is clearly my sharing post, have I mentioned how I drink tea now?? Well I do. I never ever liked tea until a few months ago when I was introduced to iced chai. I didn't really consider this tea because it tasted more like gingerbread and it was cold. However, I have since discovered a whole realm of tea that I can make taste good! This might sound crazy that I just discovered this, but give me a break, i'm not sure why, but just do it. I've purchased multiple flavors, a teapot and a pretty jar to hold it all in {pictures to come}. OH and sweet tea doesn't count, that's just pure magic in my mouth and though it's tea, it is at a completely other level than this tea; I've been drinking that for years. So there ya have it folks, I'm a tea drinkin, gossip girl watchin review givin gal. I always feel the need to sum things up, I apologize. There are more posts to come today. Exciting!

Music Monday

This week's music is inspired by the Mr's Birthday {which is tomorrow} SO it was really hard to pick just one song that reminded me of him, because unlike most couples we don't really have a song. It's more like we have 200 songs! I have literally made at least 15 mixes^_^ I like to give them as gifts and I love that when we hear one of them, we know exactly where we were in our relationship at that time. It's literally like the soundtracks to our lives. Aw, how sweet, ha! Okay, so this week's song is The Lucky Ones.

Why I love this song // It's uplifting, it's catchy, and it makes me want to grab his hand and run through a park. It's kind of way inspiring and I think it's cool that it says "this moment is yours, this moment is mine and we're gonna be fine." It seemed appropriate, what with this new phase in his and our life approaches. It's just a good song. Agreed?

Music Monday

This week's song is one of my very favorites, introduced to me by my dear friend Jamila. She has wonderful taste in music. It was also used in the movie Amelie; which I have not seen, but hear is good...

Why I love this song // If you listened to it, then I think it's pretty obvious, right?? It's beautiful!! I love the progression, I love how smooth the entire piece is, I love that it tells a story and you can feel the passion that the pianist feels as he plays... It's just remarkable and it makes my heart so very happy. The first time I heard it, I listened to it about twenty times. Hope you enjoy it too!

Music Monday

In leu of my birthday, I'd like to share with you one of my most recent favorite songs. It's so pretty and special and happy. It makes me smile and want to dance or skip... maybe with a puppy in hand?? Or maybe take a pretty bikeride through a park? Whatever the scenario, this song is perfect for today.

Why I love this song // I love this song because it's pretty. haha, but really. I love the trumpets because they remind me of my brother, I love the drum rolls because they sound like something you'd hear from the sky, I love that it builds kinda the way a smile would start to come across someone's face, I love that it's smooth, yet upbeat, I love that one wrong note played towards the end of the song, I love that it makes me want to twirl in a pretty sundress, I love the words and how perfect they are for this year, I just love love love it.

Music Monday

I love music. It is such a huge and important part of my life. It's so personal to me that I really dislike sharing it with other people, ha! Certain songs become such a part of my life that I feel like if I share it with someone, they'll take it for granted, or not appreciate it the way it should be, so weird right?? I've been like this for most of my life, and it kinda drove my friends crazy. I know that people could find these songs on their own and their not really "mine," but they feel like they are. And if I share then it's like a little piece of myself. I associate fond memories with each one, I identify with the lyrics or simple melodic lines, I just love music. And not just some music, I love all types of music; folk to reggae, classical to pop, acoustic to rock, bluegrass to jazz, country to gospel, I just love it all! Music is just wonderful. It soothes my heart, it gets me ready for my day, it assures me when I doubt myself, it gets me excited, it makes my heart beat fast, it brings tears to my eyes, it sees me at my worst and helps me through the darkest times, it hears my loud singing, it sees my dancing, it knows exactly what my heart wants to say... I'm not joking, I really love music. I'm trying to be more giving and not hoard songs, ha! and have decided to share with you a new song every week that I love. We will call it Music Monday because I love alliterations. I have over 2,000 songs in my itunes library, and that's not counting the countless cds that I haven't transferred over. eep! I love music and I want to love sharing music too! Here's to growing!

Why I love this song // I love the passion in this song. It invokes a certain feeling that I can't really describe; like I want to dance, or climb a mountain, or overcome something great! haha! I never took any dance classes when I was a kid, but I've always wished I had learned ballet. If I knew how to do ballet, I would do so, to this song. It's just beautiful. I'm sure you had heard of it before, but now you know why I love it and I'm one step closer to becoming someone who shares music. ^_^
